What are these beautiful bantams?

Horrible??? How?
They were super aggressive to me and all of my other birds. My rooster would go out of his way to chase my other hens and and chicks. My hen also never laid and somehow still went broody out of my hen I probably got 8 eggs a year. I just didnt like them personally but im not saying all of them are like this. I just wont willingly raise them again. I have had 0 problems with the large fowl though.

Bantams are generally more broody and worse layers than the regular chickens because they were not bred for egg production...but yikes about the rooster, my mother just got two bantam cochins, hope they won't be aggressive like yours were!

Its sad to say my Silkies laid more than they did lol my OEGB lay a lot (for bantams) I got a Red frizzle bantam Cochin from TSC and he was just as bad. Maybe I just have bad luck with bantams lol.

That is really sad. I have only had one bantam cochin rooster and he was pretty awesome.
My 10(ish) year old bantam black cochin still lays about a dozen a year. She is an awesome foster mom when I bring in chicks too.

I get it though. I had a similar experience with silkies.

Well, are you planning to eat bantam eggs anyways? Most people who get bantams don't get them for their eggs because they're tiny and bantams aren't known to lay much of them!

I dont eat them but its nice to have because they sold really well in my area and I was paying to feed them for nothing ( I raise mine as pet but its still nice when they pull their weight).

The only thing I can think is I got super unlucky. I always hear how sweet and precious everyones bantam Cochins are and mine were nothing of the sorts lol but its fine it didnt bother me. I sold all my Silkies too. Im not a huge fan of bantam but I keep them around for my mom. Im glad you had good luck with them!

Oh, got it! So you want to sell live bantam eggs to people! Well, I'd just say be patient, and the less eggs they lay, the more their eggs should cost! Generally, if they lay less eggs they're harder to get, thus rarer, and people will pay more for them. Research the breed and see what the normal egg-laying capacity is, if your getting less than that you know you have a bad hen, otherwise just charge more for the eggs.

@pozees2 I am late to the party, but thanks for thinking of me. I am unneeded, but I concur. :gig

Unless broody, my girls give me darn near an egg a day. All mine are typically sweet as pie. I have one that is sketchy, but not mean.
