What Are These Black Spots In My Egg ??? *pics*

You know what, I'm seeing some vein clumps in the Delaware eggs I am hatching. Confused me a lot at first but the embryos are normal. I also see a good number of meat spots, and places where their shells are weirdly thick. My first one like those hatched no problem.

One of the current three that just hatched also looked odd.

I have about 20 more in the incubator I am watching and several of those are odd ones. And no other real problems have developed from it.

I've got one like that too, there's veining and an embryo near the top but this funky dark line on it:

I've got it marked with 'blood ring?' in my notes but I'm not very sure. Candling pic looks horrible, I know, the camera doesn't like to take pics in the dark and these shells were almost too dark to see without moving the light around!

after the egss hatched, could you tell what caused the dark spots? Could you see it in the egg shell after the hatch?

I agree but it does not look like an embryo. The ones I had if they had lines, straight across, it has died somewhere down the line. If you really dont know, the egg is not weeping or has a smell, you can see for another week to make sure. If it looksl ike that line, then chuck them out.

I have candled the egg a couple of times since yesterday when I turn the eggs, the dark areas move with the edge of the vein group whenever it is turned. one time it will be horizontal the next verticle. So it would appear that whatever it is, it is somehow within the vein mass but still free floating as well. very odd.

I will keep this egg closely watched and try and give a definate answer when and if it hatches. If the embryo dies I will take pictures of the open egg and post. Maybe we will all learn a little something here.

My only other thought was that maybe there was something in the reproductive tract of the hen that got encapsulated when the shell formed? Into the great unknown...
