Hey BYC fam! I’m a newbie and the new proud papa to 4 beautiful birds that someone had dropped off at my office. They are now at my home with my kids. I have had a hard time figuring out what type of bird they are and if they are Roos or hens. Thanks for the help I have had them for 4 weeks and they have doubled in size. Has been fun watching them so far. The first pick is what they look like now the others are from 2 weeks prior. Any ideas Copper Maran? Black Australop both are for sale around my area in spring.

You've had them 4 weeks, but how old were they when you got them? I think they must be mixes or Asian blacks and I think there are at least 2 cockerels in there. Individual shots of them as they are now would help, and so would knowing their age.

If they are getting more copper color on their neck, they are probably black sex link hens. If no copper, then they kind of look like auracanas or ameraucanas with the puffy cheeks or black australorp

This is what they looked like when I found them 4 weeks ago I am guessing from what I have been told they are around 11-14 weeks old now

Looks like you may have several Roo's. Unsure of breed though maybe red-sex link, or a mix. They could just be hybrids of unknown breeds. :idunno
