Thanks so much for the reply!
Is there any kind of "waiting" period of for the consumption of eggs laid after treating the birds? If i dust thier vents i would think that this might be an issue.
I honestly don't know for sure. I've read 0-2 weeks, but it seems arbitrary depending on who you talk to and I haven't found anything definitive (and not sure that I will) on that. Since it's external and supposedly not residual/readily absorbed (same for poultry dust) supposedly, I think that the biggest issue would be the Sevin dust getting onto the eggs when they're laid....then you handle the eggs and may end up getting it on other food. However, keep in mind that both Sevin and Poultry Dust are listed/labeled for use on food plants.
So...

I don't know about Frontline and other pet meds like it. I've read that it works, but it's got to be significantly more expensive to do. Personally, I feel better using the Sevin or the Poultry dust since they are approved for food plants at least (though Sevin isn't listed for poultry). I'd never use either for my garden/food plants, though, and that's simply because it kills beneficial insects (like honey bees). Since the chickens don't need pollinating and the only bugs on them are parasites, I don't really have a problem. But that's also why you need to be careful about how much you use and how often, even on chickens.
