Hello all!

This is my rooster, William. I am so sorry for the horrible quality image. If you look under his eyes and on his wattles, you can see that he has scablike markings.

For clarity, I circled where the scabs are. My dominant hen has been attacking him and pecking his face but I just want to be sure that it is not a disease of any sort. What could be going on with William?

Edit: He was moving around too much for me to get a good picture of his comb, but there is also a blackish-purple colored scab on his comb. It looks a bit like dry blood. And the circle on his wattles is marking a cluster of black spots.

I can’t get a great look, but I would agree it’s probably dried blood. It would look almost black against the red skin, presents as dots (ie. pecks), and doesn’t normally include any swelling.

Yeah, he's not having any swelling. Also, I've watched how my hen deals with him. She will mount him and peck his face if he attempts to peck her.
