RTA looks like she could be a columbian Old english game bantam. That would be a very possible colour pattern if she came from Ideal hatchery, since they got every colour imaginable in OEGBs.

I don't know what hatchery they came from. I got them from Atwood's Farm Supply. I am not sure about the dark cornish...her legs don't seem to be out of proportion to her body like the cornish I've seen pictures of. And her feathers seem fluffy, not "tight" like the description. I did see some young wyandottes that looked like her. I guess I'll have to wait til she is fully feathered.

As far as RTA or "Roger" I agree that she is probably a pullet, which works out fine for me! LOL! I do think she has the body style of an OEGB, so that is a definite possibility. I think the Columbian pattern is a definite possibility. I haven't been able to see a pic of the backs of the Columbian pattern, so I can't really see a splash pattern like (s)he has. But, I know things can change until the first big moult.

Thanks for the input! If anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Here are a few pictures of my Dark Cornish pullet when she was about 4-5 weeks old..

She doesn't have the tight feathering either, they normally don't until they are older.

Thanks for posting the pics of your Dark Cornish, Perfectly_Polish! They do look a lot alike. From what I have read, it seems Cornish have shorter life spans, don't breed readily, and are lucky to get an egg a week. Is this true?

Also, I love the one behind her in the middle pic! Is that a Polish? What color pattern is it? It is BEAUTIFUL!

Shelly, the things you wrote are true for Cornish Crosses bred as broilers, but not for Pure Cornish. The ones I had were very long lived and laid nearly as well as my other Brown Egg Layers.

Thanks for the reassurance. She is the sweetest thing! I am still learning about the personalities of the different breeds, and there just isn't a lot out there about the Cornish.
