What are these?

Depends one the circumstances. With people who raise show birds or rare breeds like myself. I/we price our roosters higher than hens.
Yep
To some of us roosters are just as wanted/valued/important or even more so then hens.
I know I do my part to keep them off the endangered list.

Think they were confused about what they sent. I kept one to keep with the 15 pullets that I get this week . It has black wing feathers coming in. I was going to keep them all for awhile and pick out the best one. But all but this one was attacking my ducks. I know it wasn't the environment. They are in a 4x5 foot brooder. Guess I'll see what he grows into.

Here he is with the ducks. He's since moved into the chick brooder..

What I ment to say was. Since he may be a production red cockerel Will his genetics help with the egg laying potential of his daughters since Production red females lay so well.

Oh I see. Then yes, if he is bred to other high production type breeds then they will indeed make for more consistent layers. If you'd breed him to breeds like Australorps, Plymouth Rocks, or Leghorns for instance. The offspring should be outstanding layers.

Thank you Gray Farms. Writing is not my strong suit ...you think he's a production red? Looks like lacing on his wings.
