I am looking at getting one of the rabbit cages from TSC. I think it is 30"X36". Will it be big enough for 2 birds or should I get more than that? Dont really know what I am going to do with these two.

Doing real good. There white feathers are coming in and I have had to put a top on their box to keep them from jumping out. I have them in a 36 gallon rubbermaid container. Like I said though still dont have a clue as to what to do with them. My sons like them though so they will stay.

My jumbos' cage is 30" x 36" x 11" high, and there was a total of 12 birds in there to start with. There are 10 now, I lost 2 hens to egg-bound

MY ADVISE IS TO PINION THEM SO THEY DONT GET LOOSE FROM THE KIDS. ITS PERMANENT -- 1 TIME THING. QUICK AND EASY IF I LITTLE BLOOD DOESNT UPSET YOU. IT WILL KEEP THEM FROM GETTING LOOSE AND LOST. THERES A NICE EDUCATIONAL POST ON THIS STRING JUST DO A SEARCH FOR IT--- PIX AND ALL!

If the rabbit cage doesnt have wire that's 1/2" you'll want to get some hardware wire and line it as a raccoon will pull them right through bigger wire. There's another thread on here with someone that just got 10 and the first day they are already down to 4, don't risk it if your kids are attached especially.

Good luck!

I start my Texas A & M and other quail chicks out on game bird starter ration 30% protein. Like the others said, turkey starter is okay. When I was starting out and fed chicken starter, the chicks definitely didn't grow as fast and there were some other problems -- I think there can be long term negative effects resulting from an inadequate diet as well...

My TSC will order turkey starter for me...could you ask?

Otherwise grind up a cup or so of catfood and mix it with a few lbs of the chicken crumbles to up the protein.
