The colorful EE is definitely a roo. The black one may be... I don't see any hackle feathers at this point, but are those sickle feathers in the tail? It's pretty young, and that's a fair amount of red in the comb. I am guessing that they're the same age, and maybe 16 weeks or so. I think the black one is an EE cross.

Yaa the second one is a roo, the first one is a pullet. I would guess its a orp crossed with something. She looks alot like my clair who is a BO.

I have no clue how old they are but by what you are guessing they (or at least my black one) are too young to lay yet. That's what happens when you're a newbie and don't know what you're buying

I would buy another 3 hens.... If he just has two he will ride them to death, especially as small as they are compared to him. I try to keep at least a 5-1 ratio of hens - roos.
