What are/were your expeiences with 4-H? Kids asking about joining

Check to see if they have an online website. We have one for ours and I believe you can go back to the national site and do some searches on your individual area. Ours posts a newsletter and has a calendar that tells you what is up and coming for the year.

http://www.fourhcouncil.edu/ this is the national 4-H council site.

http://www.fourhcouncil.edu/find4h.aspx site to find the councils in your area.

Good luck and keep asking questions you cannot find out anything waiting on someone to tell you. Sometimes they get in a lull and assume that EVERYONE knows all about 4-H like they do and we have to remind them that some of us are NEW to this!

Our club had to be reminded and they did not mean to be secretive, just assumed everyone knew.

I am a co-leader for our club this year - we have about 40+ kids, plus our county has about 6 other clubs, so we are pretty big.

I love it BUT they are not very well organized and frequently communication is an issue.

Youi have to be patient when looking for information.

We spend one night a month on meetings of course, then in the spring everything goes crazy - especially shooting sports! Holy cow - it is hard to keep up, and then fair comes and you really do go out of your mind for a few weeks. But it all settles down in August and gets quiet until the following March.

That's pretty much our 4H club in a nutshell!

This year we are doing rabbits, art, shooting (shotgun and archery), and poultry.

I have been trying to find a 4-h club in my area for a while now.
I have gone online and called a few other organizations trying to get a lead on one but keep getting dead ends.
I know there has to be one around here but for some reason I can't locate the proper contacts.
Does anyone know of a way to find one, there is no local extension service for me here either.
I live in weymouth, Massachusetts.
I have checked with the norfolk county and came up with nothing.

4-H is great. I am now the co-dog leader. My daughter is the president. This is her last year, and this is my second year as the co-dog leader. I also got talked into being the Asst. Superintendent of the dog show at our county fair.
It has been great for our family.

I don't know why I couldn't find it in my search. I typed in so many different things and called different places hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
I really appreciate this. I have been wanting to get the kids involved with this for a while now.

I know how you feel. You can usually find it on the website.........If you are USED to their website! LOL. Otherwise you feel like a ninny and that is what us experienced folks are for! LOL. Glad that got you to the right point. Your kids will have a blast! Let me know if you need any extra help and I will try from Missouri!
