What are you adding to your flock this year?

Fun idea for a thread. Congrats on getting it featured. I would like to stop supporting the hatchery industry and I am so thrilled to have found a local breeder. She only carries a few breeds, and expects chicks in about three weeks or so. I’m hoping to get to each of Isabella Leghorns and French Blue Copper Marans.
Oh how egg-citing ! Can’t wait to see them! So you expect to get them in a few weeks? I won’t say a word :love💕💕

When my broodies get going, they’re going to hatch just a few (3or4) of our eggs which are from a Spitzhauben/Sebright cross I call Sprites, now crossed back to the Spitzhauben rooster, so they’ll be 3/4 Spitz. I think I call them Spritzles. 🙃Can’t wait to see what they look like.

And I have an empty smaller coop which I hope to be for bantams—I have a local source for self-blue bantam Ameraucana eggs, and will have a broody hatch those as well.

I only added four more lol

Two speckled sussex and two buff orpingtons. I have been searching everywhere for speckled sussex and I am so excited I finally found them. I have two of each breed and I am ocd so the buff's were an impulse buy since the minimum were 4 chicks but I am excited for them too. Now fingers crossed they are all pullets like they are suppose to be! Lol

I'm working with a questionable fertility rooster, so starting with 8 in a neighbor's incubator (Niederrheiner x Buff Orpington) and if my broody hen sticks, possibly another 8 of the same or some hatching eggs from another local. I'm not worried about the excess, pullets will go easily if I somehow magically get too many and my sister can help me process any sub-standard cockerels. Working on more coop space now 🤣
