What are you baking now?

Thanks now the only struggle will be to get my husband to give up one of his beers! I will try this for sure. Also, thanks for tip on self-raising flour - I never have that in house either. That reminds me that I need to post a short article that I saw in my Fine Cooking magazine about making your own Baking Power and how to test to make sure its fresh.

Thanks again

Yesterday afternoon I decided to make some bread. I changed a few things, so I don't know which is responsible, but I got the most beautiful loaf of bread I have ever baked. I was trying out my bread stone for the first time. I tried a different prep where you mix a couple of cups of flour in with your scalded milk and beat it well before adding additional flour. I added the rest of my flour more gradually, with the last of it actually going in not too long before finishing the kneading(kitchen center w/ dough hooks. It was a two loaf recipe, but I took the whole thing and rolled it into a single loaf and raised it on the bread stone and put it in the oven. The crust is perfect, and the texture of the crumb is amazing. Now, I will have to see if I can duplicate it.

Ok girls I'll try... they tasted pretty good but I think they needed more sugar and cinnamon in the middle, I will bake these again, the teenagers loved them.
