What are you baking now?

Waiting on the whole wheat bread to come out of the oven so I can get back downstairs to work on the Banty cages. It sure is smelling good. I used a recipe from a 1970's Better Homes and Gardens book.

I made 2 loaves of seven grain bread this morning and just took a chocolate mayonnaise cake from the oven.

Miss Prissy, you are such an inspiring enabler.

How do you know it's doing that? I made my first start six days ago, and I have no idea how to tell if it's ok or not... and it's freaking me out that there's milk in it and it's sitting on the counter. Am I doing something wrong?

So I'm a beginner clearly how do you use the starter exactly? Do you replace some of the flour, liquid or use it like a yeast? You mentioned you can add it to any bread recipe so I'm wondering how you adapt it.

Well, we need to add more fiber to our diet - so I made a Blackberry Pie

Also, trying to clear some old berries out from the freezer to make room for new berries coming on early next month - if this darn rain would ever stop.

Also, think I discovered that I'm letting my bread dough rise too much.

Wish someone would adopt me for a week and teach me how to make bread! I'm one of those need to see it done to help get it right.

Fed my starter this weekend and it bubbled real nice so at least that seems to be coming along OK.

I swear I gain weight just looking at these pictures sometimes!

ETA: Terrie, can I order a piece of that cake? Please sent it Fed Ex. I'm going out now to get some fresh cold milk. Thanks.
