What are you baking now?

Chilling butter cookie dough...to make peanut butter blossoms without the peanut butter. Wonder if it will work out ok, as it is for gifts. Family is happy to eat the mistakes however so it always works out one way or another.

Not sure what might be happening. Here is a recipe that I use. Only thing I can think of is may be your yeast is out of date - but I highly doubt that with you since you are such a good cook and know these things.

Sandee

Sandee, that is the recipe I use. I had gotten my yeast from KAF, and I keep it in the fridge. It isn't out of date. The recipe calls for 125 degrees, and that what I did. Do you use the microwave to warm your milk and water? Mmaybe that is killing the yeast when I add it to the flour mixture?
BTW, what's the weather like in CA. Cold? If so, I can send you the rhubarb, since it's frozen. It's freezing here! (we need an icon that denotes shivering!)

Gingerbread Men with three year old granddaughter who never stopped chattering, rolling dough, pressing in the raisins, oohing and aahing about frosting. This kind of Christmas fun...priceless! She took home six, all named for Daddy, Mommy, Zachie, Uncle Steve, Grandma DeeDee who passed away in March but to whom she still feels very close, and one for herself. We froze the rest for more fun on another day with different icing and decs. ~G

French Coconut pie.. I haven't had it in a long, long time. But, it's still just as yummy as I remember from when my mom used to make it!

Recipe? Please?

How fun! Baking with the grandkids! My oldest granddaughter loves to help me bake (she's 4) but we do have to fish out a few eggshells here and there. It's sooo much fun!

I am having a cookie exchange this friday so I am starting early and freezing the items that freeze well first. I am making lemon cookies with a lemon glaze and pistachios, almond lace cookies, 3 nut baklava, lemon cupcakes and little mini chocolate eclairs with almond filling and crushed almonds on top.
