What are you canning now?

Gawd... My husband loves both chipped beef on toast (affectionately referred to by its other moniker) and Spam. Yes, he was Navy. They taught him how to eat anything... And clean VERY efficiently. (Probably the best use of U.S. tax dollars was taking all those feral young men and teaching them manners, how to clean, and how to fold laundry)
OH yeah I remember that. I hate it. BUT I was in the hospital when I was about three years old. The nurses aide said, "you have to eat it if you want to go home". I did of course and I do think that was the last time I ate it. It looks gross but I guess it tastes okay to some people. Kind of like Mushrooms. Yuk!

Creamed eggs on toast is yummy.
When I was single, long, long, loooonnnnnngggg ago, I would buy those "Boilbag" things and put those over toast or scrambled eggs. I'm not even sure they sell them anymore.

Chicken ala king, beef and gravy, pork and gravy.

I eat much better now that I'm married. Though I am 50 lbs heavier. It's all her fault.

"The way to a man's heart is through his stomach."

Seems to me if mothers want their daughters to be married they'd teach them to be better cooks.

My wife used to bring me dinner when I worked the night shift BEFORE we got married. Baked chicken and stuffing. Scalloped potatoes and pork chops.

A man does his part and a woman does hers. Like a team. One guy throws the football another guy catches it. Can you see it? Both guys run down the field stop and look at each other? "I thought you were gonna pass it", "I thought you were". There goes the ball in the hands of the other team. I remember the pastor saying once. "If they're happy with the way things are keep you nose out". Speaking of folks marriage. That came cuz folks sticking their noses in other peoples marriage.

I never can understand why women choose to work two jobs. One outside the home and one inside. Just go into a debate about women doing more housework than her husband even though they both work outside the home. Women spend more time taking care of the kids too.

I can't see why a woman wants to put up with all the crp of working outside the home. The boss, stupid co-workers etc. etc. Part time maybe but full time? No way. Most of the guys I worked with at the PO I wouldn't want to be friends with.

Use to be a woman sold eggs to get herself some money. I know things change but change isn't always good. DW has worked part time. I expect it's the only reason I'm alive. She used to work for the fabric store and spend it all on fabric to sew for the kids. My girls didn't wear to many store bought dresses when they were little.

Being a good Mom is not easy.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Read the entire proverb. It's very good.

Sorry I always say more than I should.

@rancher hicks I get what you are saying, but it all depends on the people. I am not a baby person and it turned out that neither is my husband. I was OK with having kids, but it was not my burning passion. So we left it up to God have no kids for me to take care of. I hate housework. I need people around me. So, being at home makes me crazy, I don't notice it but it makes it hard on him. Plus what we want to do costs money.

No, you didn't say too much. But sometimes the domestic situation is, well, situational. Sometimes a woman works because the family needs the money. Other times it's to have some grownup contact. Sadly, many do to prove they can do it all and then feel bad about themselves being spread too thin.

I think they did a study on what a woman's home work is worth if you had to hire out to do it. I believe it came to $76K per year for all the services provided. Now, admittedly, she's not being paid that amount, but it should be recognized for it's value. I cringe whenever I hear "Oh, I'm JUST a housewife" or "JUST a stay at home mom" because their job is vital to the existence of the family in organizing, keeping things running smoothly and raising young future adults. Doing it right is hard work!
