What are you canning now?

I know this is off topic but I figured it might get answered here faster. I have a ton of Clementines that are getting to "dry" to eat fresh. Can I make candied oranges with them with out the peals.....if so how? or any other suggestions for them. I have about 30.

Here's my recipe for Kale soup. It's soooooo good. I can it like you said, going by the ingredient with the longest processing time, so this is 90 minutes at 10 lbs. pressure for quarts.

I happen to have a picture of it, too.

I realize that you are suppose to stay within the subject matter - but hoping the mods will allow this since I really only want to tell the close circle of BYCers here that I communicate with through this thread.

Anyway, I have gotten the results of my biopsies and they are positive and I do indeed have breast cancer

. I will going in for surgery as soon as it can be arranged. The positive is that this particular type of cancer responds well to treatment and there is a new drug that you take for 5 years and there are good results with remission during that time and hopefully beyond.

So if you don't here from me for a while fear not I'll be back soon!! Keep me your thoughts and thanks for being here and for your shared love of chickens, cooking, canning and of course enjoying the fruits of our labor!!

Sandee, I soooo wish your news was different. You're in my prayers ... stay strong and recover quickly. We all hope to see you back soon.

You are indeed in our thoughts. There are a few people here on BYC that have been diagnosed this year.
There are some really good new drugs. Try to eat well ,try to sleep an try to keep a positive attitude.
There is a thread called '...talk about cancer', CM is going through this again and has a good outlook. deerman is in it again as well. They may have some tips to help you cope. I pray for you to keep a good mental outlook. it is your best weapon.

Sandee - your post brought me out of lurkdom and made me register because I wanted to send you a message. I've been lurking here since summer - but since I don't have chickens I just follow this canning thread ... so much useful info and fabulous recipes... I feel like I know you guys - and hope you're not freaked out by my coming out of lurkdom....

anyway - Sandee I was really hoping that your biopsies would not be positive ... I was diagnosed with breast cancer coming up on 6 years ago in April ... I've got some wonderful resources I can point you to for info and support if you'd like. Both internet forums as well as places you can call and talk to someone who has been in your shoes .. with volunteers who have all had breast cancer in their life - you can even request to talk to someone specifically who has a similar diagnosis to your diagnosis. The websites I know of have a ton of info and support ... please let me know if you'd like some links - you are in my thoughts and prayers ...
sending you a great big hug and I hope to be able to provide you with additional information to help you on this journey.

Doreen
