What are you getting for the Spring??

First, new coop with some breeder pens! That will permit space for about 15-20 new birds.

I have ordered:

- Delaware chicks and delaware hatching eggs

- Blue orps
- Pencilled Rocks
- Speckled Sussex
- Welsummer hatching eggs

... and some assorted hatching eggs that sound like fun.

I plan to increase my flock by about 15 birds by end of 2009 and will sell the extras. I want to start a Delaware breeding project and see how that goes.

Well what I want and what I might be getting are two different things, lol.
I think we are going to be getting some dual purpose birds again, the breeds we have arent good layers and arent good meat birds. I am thinking hatchery birds, most likely wyandottes and rocks, maybe try some other colors like columbian or something. I know we are going to get some EE's for sure. Maybe some brown leghorns for layers and to work on crele leghorns.

I would like to get more pheasants and some more wyandotte bantams but not sure if I will.

I'm getting ready to load the bator again with Welsummer eggs and possibly a few BBS Orp. eggs. Then next month, I'll be loading the bator with some BBS eggs from speckledhen (Cyn)! I can't wait!!!

and LOTS of jumbo brown coturnix!!!!

We need to build 2 more flight pens for the Chukars and ducks (oh yeah, we'll be raising more ducks, too...) and finish the breeder coop.

I'm already getting catalog/price list requests, so I have a feeling this year is going to be busy. I keep telling my DH that I'm working towards HIS retirement, and he's been most supportive.

I need a few more EE bantam girls so I'll hatch out some of those. I'd really like to get a bantam cochin trio but we'll have to see how much room I end up with in the barn.

You people need to stop this! I can not stop myself from browsing hatching eggs on here, eBay and eggbid. I have no incubator. My bantam cochins are still a few months away from laying and setting. My coop is full, and DH still needs to build me a new one for the bantams.

I promised my hubby this morning that I'm not going to order any more babies. Not even silkies, if I can help it

. I can not go back on my promise. I won't go back on my promise! Please help me not go back on my promise... I have a huge list of wants for spring. I need to develop amnesia and forget it all.

I'm losing my mind! Look what BYC has done to me. I'm thinking someone should make an anti-BYC website to keep others from this terrible addiction that I have.
