I was actually listening to the original version from 1968 on CD collection, but had to go to Youtube to make a posting. I found the 1997 version, and thought it was GOOD.

Steve Goodman did a song called "The Dutchman," I love that song. Maybe 1982 or thereabouts

Except I hardly ever knew what they were saying. My grandfather had the training and voice to be a cantor - one who sings the prayers but, ended up working on engines in the steel mills.

My grandmother came to this country for an "arranged " marriage but, met my grandpa and married him instead. She had a mind of her own, and I like to think I have some of her other great qualities as well.
