Gibi is adorable! I'm pretty sure I won't have any fingernails by the time I get them. I'm such a wreck, I'm going to be more than paranoid once they get here.

I'm still waiting for my chicks! They shipped Monday, and are making their way to me all the way from Ohio... I can't even sit still waiting for them- it's torture!! It isn't common for people to get chicks in the evening right? So should I stop staring at my phone waiting for it to ring until tomorrow morning?

I think I remember seeing someone posting here at BYC that her post office called around 2:00 AM (from the distribution center) that they were in....so sleep with one eye open!! Hope they all arrive safe and sound...good luck to you!!

God I know! It is awful! Then for the first two nights I could not sleep. I kept jumping up and checking on them. I'm terrible.



This is Gibi short for Golden Beard. She is Gray and black but has a Golden Mask and Beard. Very cute!

Gibi is cute. I haven't gotten to the naming part, and can only tell a few of them apart at this time. I've got tiny zip ties, but haven't wanted to stress them out yet. I figure right now, catching them all once or twice a day to check for pasty butt is enough stress. (As an aside - I wish I had made my brooder narrower - I have to actually put down paper towels and step inside to be able to reach them all. I know it scares them.) I haven't yet taken one out 'just because', but now that they all are seeming pretty healthy, it might be time to try that out.

I did not get the call until 6:00pm when my chicks came. I know someone else on here it was closer to 9:00pm. It all depends on the post office. If the distribution center knows you are waiting and willing to go get them hopefully they will call you. I had to drive 30 minutes away to get mine instead of waiting an additional day and driving 10 minutes. Totally worth it!

Wow, I didn't know It could be that late! I'll definitely keep an ear out for the telephone. Thanks everyone for responding, it's amazing to have a website like this, where people with similar interests answer questions so quickly and kindly. I doubt I'll be able sleep at all tonight, which is unfortunate because I have school tomorrow...

All five healthy and happy! They're sleeping under the Eco glow as we speak. I'll have to figure out what breed they are... I know the two little ones are the bantam easter eggers... I'm already completely entranced with all their little personalities. The only thing is that only one knows to drink the water. I haven't seen the other four at all interested (I did try to dip each beak in the water, but it's harder than it looks!)
