WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHAT DID YOU JUST RECEIVE?

Most feed stores sell pullets like TSC and Farm and Family but you have to be aware that in ANY hatchery situation they sex to an accuracy of about 80%. So you can figure that 20% of the birds will be roosters. I see it happen all the time but with even with seeing it happen, it still seems rare for most people. You can try!

They are all dead, they only left the hatchery 2 days ago! I called the post office yesterday when I saw they left Omaha, that made no sense to me. I thought they would fly into Denver and then to here which is only 4 hours. I knew they would be on a truck. I called my post office and they said they would go to North Platte next and I was going to drive the three hours to get them. Called North Platte and she said they were on the truck and would not get there til late at night. I said that would be 18 hours in the truck. I asked in the back of the truck and she said probably. I said NO its to hot! I called all the post offices along the route, I couldnt catch up to them. Everyone kept saying, oh they will handle them differently, they will be okay! The driver will put them in the cab with the air conditioning!

I am crushed, my husband is furious. 10 lives lost because someone didnt care!

I just talked to the North Platte post office, they said they are NEVER allowed in the cab they are just mail! They are not treated differently folks! I am going to drive 1200 miles next week to get my order and drive back!

Which hatchery did you get them from? That is horrible. I would be crushed and furious! I am so sorry. I would let the hatchery know how they were shipped and demand replacements ... sent priority one day shipping, or a refund and go to a different hatchery!

This order is from my pet chicken, so they came out of Meyer. Of course they will give me new chicks, this is not their fault. The post office tells you they handle live animals differently. Well not at least in Nebraska, they admitted to me that they ride in the trailer with all the other "Mail" no driver will put them up front but the us post office 800 number yesterday said that they would be in the air conditioning!!!!!

I just got my order from My Pet Chicken. All arrived alive, in less than 24 hours. I am so sorry that your Post office is ignorant.

I got my girls from mypetchicken also, 10 weeks ago. They all arrived perfectly fine 2 days later. Yes, I do think the PO is probably not handling them correctly but it seems that most know how to handle baby livestock especially with the liability for 'arrive alive' policies.

Jewellan, How did you get yours all the way in Nevada in 24 hours and mine took two days? Well obviously they flew yours, mine baked in a truck! I am not connected with Consumer complaints in the USPS and they all seem geniunely upset. The gal I have now is based in Omaha and she says it is wrong! They are suppose to go up front!

Newchicky, what happened to your chicks is terrible! I'm glad you are getting some support from the customer complaints people. I am also getting my chicks from MPC...

Sorry you lost all your chicks due to USPS negligence. It doesn't happen THAT often, but often enough to add to the USPS's deplorable rep. The hatchery will replace the lost chicks, but before you drive 2400 miles round trip, you might want to check w/local breeders and see if they have any chicks or young birds they would sell you. They will cost more per bird, but it may work out less costly than that drive. Either way, I hope your quest for chickens becomes satisfied.
