the coop doesn't look that big...the coop is the wood box portion. The run is the fence portion...for every chicken figure 4 sq ft. for coop space smaller breeds lighter breeds you might do ok with 3sq ft. Bantams even less 2 sq ft per bird...if the whole thing is 5X8 then you are pushing it with what you got unless you are going to let them out a lot. Roost space is also inportant. Some of my chicken live in an 6x6x6tall peaked roof so rafters. And 3 six foot roosts. I have 150 sq ft run. 6 grown birds. and 18 younsters almost 9 weeks..but I plan on extra roos going to freezer camp I ordered extra so I could pick the best for breeding .I plan on just. 12 to 14 birds for long term.I am getting 10. I have this coopIt has 4 nesting boxes all together and is 5X8. I don't know if I should get more than 10. I want them to have room. I am getting 2 white Leghorn, 2 Plymouth Barred Rock, 3 easter eggers, 2 Cuckoo marans, and 1 mystery chick. I want them to be comfortable and happy, but I have chick fever! and want more.

to go you an idea a two week old swedish while swimming in just 2 to 3 inches of water can reach treats off of my counter...they grow much faster ..I wouldn't I had a newborn right out of the egg but its hatch mate needed some tlc so I thought hmm put it in with the bantams for a day..knocked them over like bowling pins...so back in the hatcher it went...my 2 week old are getting moved to the kiddy pool brooder they have really out grown their tub the big 44 gallon size. Hard kiddy pool with 2 ft fence wrapped around it ....oh and your ducks will make a wet mess of their bedding|brooder several times a day they play in their water and chicks can get chilled and die easy..water which I switch to a jug or old bowl butter etc with a whole just big enough for their head.Does anyone recommend for or against brooding your ducks with your chickens? I am getting 3 Blue Swedish ducks and would like to keep all together if I can but I'll separate if that's what people recommend.
Wow that last sentence read way to dirty! lol
