Well I ordered 18 chicks including the meyer meal maker. I had 3 die in shipping and 1 that I am pretty sure isn't going to make it.
I got three surprises the "leann's adopt me bargain. I got two bantams from that I believe. My EE's look to be all here. I'm having a little trouble telling the barred rocks (should be 4) from the BCM's (should be 2 pullets and 1 cockerel) but I am pretty sure I only have 1 BCM left. I'm kind of scratching my head about who is who! lol. I'm in the process of getting pictures of them all.![]()
Here is what I have so far:

Thank you! I hope May 12 will come quick for you! I got lucky and stalked Meyer's site and when I saw that they had what I wanted available for this week I jumped on it!They are sweet. I just heard my order from Cackle wont be here until May, 12th. such a shame they make us wait so long.
I got word that mine are scheduled to ship on April 30! Of course, that probably means they will arrive May 2 which is an awful day for me at work when we have our main presentation. I'll just have to sneak out for a few hours during the day to go get them, check them out, and get them started and then rely on DH to check on them that evening. I know to check for pasty butt and dip their beaks in water. Think I'll also get some drench. I've really got to read up now and get a plan!No idea when to expect them yet, but I have silkies, easter egger bantams, Dominique bantams, and buff orpington bantams ordered. Minimum order without a fee was 25, so I have 7 silkies and 6 of each of the others ordered. The coop we are working on will fit about 8 standard size or 15 of the bantam sized and our goal is to get 8-9 hens out of this bunch. (But there's already been talk that we maybe should just get started on a second coop!)
Thank you! I hope May 12 will come quick for you! I got lucky and stalked Meyer's site and when I saw that they had what I wanted available for this week I jumped on it!Otherwise my wait would have been quite long also.
I wish that cackle would put dates on their website to check for availability like other hatchery's!Yes, I couldn't believe it today when the lady told me, so I asked about the surprise box, was told it would be May,1st if I got that. So I will wait 11 extra days to get the ones I wanted. I went to tractor supply today to see what they had, they had 4 babies about 1 month old all white leg horn pullets Not bad for $2 each but still I said heck no. I asked if they would get more in and they said no, that was it for this year. They said they are having a time this year getting in any chicks at all, makes me wonder why.
Cool! I'd like to see a pic of how yours ended up with your modifications. I, too, am planning on tweaking mine quite a bit. After we put it together we're going to literally chop off that so-called "run" on the right side, roof and all. The remaining coop/nesting boxes we're going to raise up on a 4x4 frame of sorts so that it will be taller. When that's done then we will build a new outdoor run for the right side, probably out of 2x6 for top/bottom, and 2x3's for uprights, 1/2" hardware cloth all around, metal roofing on top.....whatcha think...do-able??Yes, even with the modifications I made, total time to construct was only like 30 minutes.
Make sure you lay out the pieces and figure out what direction they face and will be quite simple.
I wish that cackle would put dates on their website to check for availability like other hatchery's!
I agree, its not good. I don't know if you saw my previous post about it, but I ordered from them two weeks ago thinking that if I got to order from them than they had them in stock, or close to it. After 4 business days (the website does say that it takes them 5-10 days to contact you) I called to see if I could pick my chicks up because I only live about 1.5 hours away. And they had a hard time tracking down my order because "it wasn't processed yet"!! after 6 days and 4 business days. So when I realized that same morning I could get what I wanted from Meyer I jumped on it and canceled the cackle order. Cackle was very nice about it all, not even charging me their 10% because the order hadn't "processed" yet.If they had of done that, then I would have gone someplace else most likely. I told the kids they must hatch them out as people want them. To me that is wrong but I guess that is the best way so they don't have tons of left overs. But still its just so wrong if there is no date on there for you to choose.
