WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHAT DID YOU JUST RECEIVE?

I had called earlier in the day and expressed my concern for the well being of the chicks and they were nice enough to promise to call me if they were on the 9pm truck. The post office was not open. They had me park at the employee entrance and call a cell phone number of one of the employees when I arrived. They were so nice!!!

Oooooo fun. My plan is after a few years if my new laying hens get to where they do not produce well I want to try my hand at getting one of my dads roosters to have date nights and hatch my own chicks.

I have incubated, hatched and raised dozens of corn snake eggs in my years. Chicken eggs can't be too much harder with proper research.

My mottled cochin follows my hand around (she makes a mad dash for my hand when I move it away)! And she already responds to the cry "hey chick-chick-chicken" (she immediately comes out of the Eco Glow). She also tried jumping and flapping towards my hand when I grabbed one side of the brooder. Whenever I poke my head/hand over the brooder, she cranes her neck up and tries to stretch her body up as much as possible.

Or maybe I'm hoping/assuming too much LOL. I heard chicks hardly ever imprint.

So far my cochin and easter eggers have been the most active and friendly. My silkie is pretty quiet and calm, and my brahma, shy.

(The cochin might be my favorite now though...

Pretty blurry... but you can kind of see her craning up there :p

Those are almost the same breeds I got and they are acting the same way for me! I have a barred rock that is loud and pushy so I think I'm going to name her Carlotta.

pedialyte or nutri drench
Here, here for the Nutri-Drench! Unlike the other helps, Bovidr Labs Poultry Nutri-Drench does not need digested. If you even suspect your chicks are needy or travel stressed, give them one drop by mouth, then 2cc per gallon of water. I use it in their water for the 1s 2 weeks of life to get them off to a strong start. Have used Bovidr Labs nutritional supplements on my birds and collies for over a decade. Here's the website: http://www.bovidr.com/poultry.html
The 4 oz. bottle for 6.99 at Tractor Supply is plenty. It is very concentrated. They also make a qt. size. If they are out of Poultry Nutri-Drench, you can use Pet Nutri-Drops. Same dosage and usage as the Nutri-Drench.
~~For chicks, the science techs at Bovidr Labs told me to give each chick one drop by mouth upon arrival. Then 2 cc per gallon of water in the chicks water for the next 2 weeks. ( one will probably need the qt. bottle to supplement for 2 weeks, it depends on how many chicks one has). Bovidr said it does say 4 cc per gallon on the bottle, however, if the chicks won't drink that strong of solution, 2 cc per gallon works just fine. If one is using less than a gallon waterer, then change the PND/warer ratios accordingly.
