After much ado about nothing, my chicks are here all safe and sound from MPC, Wednesday. They apparently gave me a call around 4AM and 9AM but I never received those calls. Next time I'm putting down several back up phone numbers (tbh there were a lot of phone issues on both sides).

All these chickies are bantams and females

Black Silkie (seems to be bearded)

Easter Eggers (I'm really hoping for some tufty beards! And I'm really excited about their adult feathering)

Mottled Cochin (loudest and most active of the bunch)

Buff Brahma

Group photos! (cochin & silkie on right)

They're all eating, drinking, and pooping. No pasty butts. They're all cuddling under my Eco Glow brooder, and coming out every few minutes to explore.
It's pretty amusing watching them keel over when they fall asleep standing up (they look like little chick pancakes when they're sleeping LOL).

Everything sounds good right?

Sounds good to me solomine! They are adorable! Mine all fall asleep at once, wake each other up in a flurry, run around, eat, and then fall back asleep, all within 5 minutes. It's hilarious to watch!

Came today.
15 Red Broilers and a mystery chick (looks like an Ameracauna)
Ordered 3 Khaki Campbell Hens 1 DOA which is very unusual for a duck to not survive - she looked good, except for the being dead part . . . .

Wanted to add to my duck population and just wanted to try the broilers.

My husband just drove out to pick up our chickens. We bought 12 chickens and 1 rooster -- all Buff Orpingtons. My husband has been the one doing all the research and now that they are in our backyard, I'm wishing I had done a bit more! This is our first time with chicks and my husband is so nervous about it. I don't want his nervousness to ruin the fun that I'm sure we'll have with this new lifestyle we've embarked upon.

I'm glad I found this site and am sure I'll be digging through, looking for answers to my questions.
