WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHAT DID YOU JUST RECEIVE?

My call ducks shipped!!! Omg omg omg...I am giddy.... I had been expecting them to ship on the 27 of this month. I ordered back in the beginning of March. Then I got the email on the 16 of this month saying that the breeders incubators malfunctioned and that there was going to be delays and was devastated. I kept writing emails and calling hoping for a new ship date but was told that it may be a few weeks delayed but they promised I would get them. When I called this last tue hoping for a updated shipping date I was promised that yes I would get my ducks this year, but they couldn't give me a date. I figured I would get them in late June or even this fall. Imagine my surprise to find a email this morning saying they shipped. And that they shipped yesterday afternoon at that! Now just fingers crossed that they make it here safe and sound! Pls pls all 15 should be healthy and alive......

I did the same thing but cut a pathway between them so that they would all be socialized and not fight. I also had to cover the top because they were jumping up on the feeder and trying to fly out. They are great little flyers at just two weeks!
That looks awesome!

Pardon me, but you must stand 9 feet tall, or how in the world do you reach into the back to grab chicks?

They're fast little buggers too! Since mine is completely tarpped, it's too late to rip it all apart to co-join containers... No matter though since each breed will have it's own coop quarters in the end anyway. I'm building 2 coops each subdivided into 2 sections with 4 individual runs attached as well. I'm pretty sure that I'll be covering my boxes as well before too long.

I am 5 feet three inches tall. I have to step into the brooder to catch them. However, now that I have two bins, I don't have to pick them up as often. When I change the bedding I just shoo them into the other side while I do that side and Visa Versa. I put the cover on it after I walked into the kitchen and saw Sassy (one of my Cuckoo Marans) perched on the side of the bin like it was a roosting pole. She was just looking around, It was hilarious but scary.

I ordered 32 total (+ a free mystery chick), and they move so fast I can't count them accurately, but I got a few more than the 32 I ordered :) I need to get a pic while they are all huddled at one end together so I can count them. I think there are 34 and the extras are an Australorp/mystery chick.

There are supposed to be 7 pullets each of; white wyandotte, new hampshire red, buff orp, and black australorps and one roo from each of the 4 as well. Seems there are 10 of the dark colored ones so one of those must be the mystery chick and I guess I got an extra australorp.

So Did you get a good count yet? What was the final total?

There are 34 total. I seems I got an extra australorp as well as the free mystery chick. I've been perusing the MM site looking at pictures of chicks... ahem...

and I THINK that my mystery chick is a cuckoo maran. It looks very much like a black australorp,.. except it has a white spot on it's head and like a lighter grayish white "bib" that wraps around the back of the spot. I'm not sure what it is, and I'm not really all that concerned

If you want to guess, it's the chick almost dead center in the left compartment of the shipping box. Have had a couple of cases of mild pasty butt, but other than that they're all doing fine. Has anyone noticed particular breeds more susceptible to pasty butt? Just curious because it seems the only chicks of mine with the issue are the white wyandottes... all the others are just fine. I have ACV in the water, and they are eating FF exclusively. (and man can they eat! like non stop!) seems the only time they stop eating is when they drop in their tracks to sleep.

God I wish usps updated their tracking more often... This is killing me, I check it almost every half hour and there has been no update since yesterday afternoon . Why oh why can't they give me hourly updates???

When were they shipped and when are you expecting them? Oh, and where are they coming from and going to?

OK, scanned back... they just shipped yesterday... I doubt there will be any tracking update till very late tonight or early tomorrow. If like mine, the tracking tomorrow morning will say they arrived at your local PO. Then you'll just need/want to call the local PO to hold them and go pick them up and bring them home. If not tomorrow, hopefully Saturday morning.

I ordered 15 call ducklings from purely poultry and they shipped yesterday afternoon, but I didn't get the email till this morning...for that matter I didn't even have a confirmed ship date till I got that email...we'll I did, but was told they weren't going to ship on time because of malfunction incubators. They shipped from MN so to Reno nv. I'm so antsy I'm surprised I got anything done today.

Mine also shipped from MN, on Monday Evening (Memorial Day) and were here in Brighton, CO at 5:30 Wed morning! There was the original pick up tracking data, then NO tracking update till I saw they were here when I checked @ 7:30am on Wednesday morning! Fingers crossed for you that you'll wake up to find them already there!

I hope so. Call ducks are notoriously fragile and my first chick mail order got stalled at the Reno sorting facility (I went and picked them up there so they wouldn't be a extra day in transit and I didn't have any doa thankfully out of 57) I also have another cackle surprise shipping out mon and I hope I get a pair of geese in my surprise . But my call ducks are what I'm truly giddy over lol and dang it no update still, I'm going to have to dye my hair after all the grey shipping birds has giving me!
