What are you willing to pay?

I was fortunate, I already had a 16x18 leanto kind of thing in the back property between the back garage and 12x24 wood shed. I built a 16x9 building under the already existing roof (which I had to redo). I started with redoing the roof, tore off the old roofing material and dry rotted plywood. New plywood and shingles... Then built the floor, and put up the walls. I ended up with a 10x10 coop with the last 6x10 of the building as a storage area. Salvaged windows from some old buildings, and built the doors myself... LOL no comments on my lack of carpentry skills! SO far I am into the building/coop and 24x24 run for about $900 in materials. So if you are expecting it built and all done, I guess $2500 would not be out of the question. However anyone with a skill saw, some common sense and a week can build a coop that is functional... there is a lot of resourcves on here that I copied or used with modifications to work for me!

Okay, so im new on this website and i absolutely LOVEEE chickens! I live in FL, im going into my Junior year in High school, im President of my FFA chapter, im #1 poultry Judger in my county and #3 ranked in the State! I've been thinking about building a chicken coop for i dont know how long now and would love to have one. My papa told me if i drew a design and figured all the materials i would need he would take me to home depot and buy it for me! I'm not used to people buying me a big number of items like this, im used to working hard and earning my things. So i dont want to break him on a chicken coop! I'm looking to spend maybe $250-$350(give or take) But i want to make this my SAE(supervised agriculture experience) for FFA, so i would be selling infertile eggs and hatching chicks to sell at a loacl farmers market, its part of the production project! My dad and I will be building this coop at my high school and im going to donate it to my FFA chapter when i graduate.... Anyone have ANY ideas or comment to making a chicken coop for about 10 standard hens for infertile and fertile eggs???

There are too many variables for anyone to set a price.

Size , materials, and design will all make a BIG difference.

A coop can be fancy, or just functional, and that alone can make $1000 difference in the cost/selling price even if they are the same size.

It's like asking "What would you pay for a house" without giving any details at all

I've mentioned my coop on a few other threads, but this one applies too. I got an 8' x 6' Heartland, display shed from Lowe's for $450. I went there with some ideas in my head to build my own, but finding a pre-built for that price was something I couldn't pass up. I was actually willing to spend around $600 after doing my coop plan research. After another $250 in moving the shed, and buying the supplies for the run, I came out pretty close. I figure the money, and time I would have spent on wood, parts, supplies, and labor (bribing the kids, etc.!) just to build the coop; the whole deal has worked out pretty good.

Thats why i asked for any ideas??? Because i wasnt to sure!!!! i thought maybe someone would be able to throw some ideas.

I believe I gave at least enough details for a fifth grader to understand!

These were the details I gave:

What are you willing to pay for a very nice chicken coop, built on-site at your chosen location, finished, painted, with all the frills and as predator-proof as humanly possible? Think permanent structure, nice enough that one day it would add to the curb appeal of your property (if you were to sell). Approximately large enough to comfortably house 10 standard hens.

There are also plenty of pics to look at if you have trouble with words.​

And I, like a lot of other people, thought you wanted to know what we paid. I don't think you should shoot the responders for trying to be helpful. My guess is, if you treat your potential customers like this, you are probably not getting into the right business!
