Any ideas on type? She showed up at our house with half of her feathers missing, she's starting to fill out though. She has quite the long, blue, legs and big feet.
Thanks guys...

Couple more pics and our partially finished coop for our stray chicken who has inspired us to maybe get a few more! She is pretty worthless, doesn't lay eggs. She's loud. She poops all over our front porch. Sleeps on my handmade bench my husband made. But we love her...

looks like it might be a Marans, I see some like leg feathering.

can you get a side shot of the wings/back, looks like a young roo to me.

agree...I don't think that is a hen, and I can see light leg feathering, so I'm gonna say blue/splash Marans

Yeah, she/he does have some weird rogue feathers growing from the legs.
Do roosters make "bok bok bok bok" noises like a hen does? She/he doesn't really "crow", but does bok bok a lot in the morning. Do some roosters not crow at all? Wouldnt he be crowing by now if he was a roo? Oh sheesh, how would I know for sure if he is a rooster?

And yes, I'll try to get some side photo's!!

at 3-4 months old, roosters will start growing in pointed saddle(back) and hackle(neck) feathers. If you spread apart the feathers in those areas, you should be able to see them coming in, they are also shiny.

I don't see anything that screams "roo" at me. (No pointed hackles, no saddle, no crowing) If she is bokbokking in the morning, she MIGHT be too young to lay yet, but close...hence the red comb and wattles. Bokbokbokbok in the morning is usually the egg song in hens, and they will sing it before they start laying. It might be a Marans or a mix breed, but whatever she is, she is pretty!

it appears to be a mix. if you enlarge the first pic you can see a spot of red on the wings. the hackles in the 2nd pic look like they are cockerel hackles, i'm leaning towards a cockerel right now
