What are your chickens favorite treats?

My chickens really like cat food, too! And sumflower seeds!!! It really helped them to grow back their feathers!

This just reminded me how much my chickens loved japanese beatles in the summer! I gave them a big treat today. Threw some cooked spinach in the belender with a few eggs (shells included) mixed it all together then scrambled it up. They loved it!

Blue berries.

Anything that the poor hen-pecked cat is trying to eat outside. They grab it out of his mouth and run!

Today I gave them a whole Papaya and a banana (both a little overipe). Totally gone no skin. no seeds, nothing at all left. They never fail to amaze me.

We started a chicken scrap tray we keep in the refrigerator. Everything is out-of-date stuff from neighbors and relatives that I pick through. Vegis, Fruits, Herbs, Meat, breads, chips, etc. We chop it all up and mix it together. We feed the girls a cup with half of their normal pellets both morning and night now. We call it "chicken swill". The girls love it so much that they started laying us more eggs every day.

Their favorite single treats are butternut squash(cut in half and microwaved until soft then cooled) and whole tomatoes.

I think those three are their absolute favorites. They'll eat just about anything, though, and with a fair amount of gusto!
