What are your favorite breeds?

What are all your favorite breeds of chickens? mine are White rocks, silkies, and light brahmas. Also, what breeds are the best layers?

I love all brahmas (though my favorite color would be a blue partridge) cause, brahmas are amazing!! I also love gamebirds, leghorns, dark cornish, and japanese bantams.

In my experience, my leghorns are great layers, but their eggs are smaller. My australorps are amazing, they lay these large brown eggs, and i have some that are like 3 years old and still lay every other day. Very impressed. They are troopers. The leghorns seem to slow down after a year of laying.

I really like the barred rocks. They are amazing layers and very tame. Barred rocks lay about 6 eggs out of seven days. Silkies are very sweet and make a great lap chicken. But are poor layers. I would really like to get a few silkies one of these days.

Barred rocks are cool. I have an old one who isn't really laying much, but i also have 4 babies so i'm looking forward to eggs from them!
Silkies are adorable, and so friendly. I want some just so i have so chickens little kids and i can play with. Most of the layer chickens are tame, but not really friendly.

Oh, yes!! I have one, and she is great! She is also like the friendliest layer i have...you can just go over and pick her up without a fuss.

Yeah, they always want to play with the girls (and boys) but i have to stop them cause when they can't catch one they just keep chasing it around the yard. Not fun for the chickens

We have 6 chicks that were taming so that they'll be friendly when they're older. I have 4 adult chickens that are great layers and are very friendly!

Awesome!! Good luck with taming the chicks!! I usually don't tame mine a bunch anymore, because i just have too many lol. They keep multiplying. That's great that your layers are friendly! I remember my first flock was also quite friendly, which is always fun.

I still tame my ducks and geese though, cause they are pets as much as they are layers. Plus, waterfowl are my favorite. I love chickens too though.
