What are your favorite breeds?

My favorite are Cochin bantams. They are so cute, and friendly. They lay really nice cream/white eggs, and they seem to get along well with other chickens.
D'Uccles are a close second. They are always really curious, and love to come see what I'm doing. They have the cutest little muffs too.

Don't tell the Dorkings, but the Leghorns are my favorites. The lay lots of eggs, are heat tolerant, and are fun to watch. They have personality! They Dorkings are sweet and friendly, but...they're just not Leghorns. Can't explain it.

Barred Holland are my favorite. Wonderful temperament, good layer.

I had never heard of a Barred Holland, just looked into them!

My advice is to get whatever breed you want. Most breeds are pretty adaptable to the different climates as long as they have proper housing for the climate. Good ventilation is one of the key factors.

Thanks for the tip! That's good to know. So during winter time how ventilated can or should a chicken house be?

My favorite breeds are Eggers (I have a thing for colored eggs), and Buckeyes so far! My little Buckeye is the sweetest thing!

Thank you, yes, I've searched through many threads already and am so thankful to learn from all the knowledge here.
Colored eggs are so pretty, I would love to have Easter Eggers in the future. My Buckeyes are so curious, I love it!

I hadn't looked up a D'Uccle chicken until now, they're so neat!

My all time favourites are Campines. Not necessarily friendly but super smart & absolute clowns~ but I'm partial to anything frizzled, Japanese bantams & D'Uccles. ​
