agreeJust like the title says, what's your favorite breeds and why. Mine are....
1. Buff Orpingtons, because they are beautiful and good all around birds, and are decent egg producers long into their lives.
2. Barnevelder, because they are quiet gentle birds with beautiful plumage, and they lay dark brown eggs.
3. Easter eggers because they are all different and those blue green eggs. They are the toy surprise of chicken breeds.
4. Wyandotte because they come in a range of colors, and I love that lacing.
5. Bantam cochins because they are gentle puff balls that also come in a range of colors as well as frizzle. Plus the roosters are feisty silly boys.
So what's your favorite breeds?![]()
My barnevelder are always easy going, and end up on the bottom of the rooster pecking order. They run instead of confront. We would someday like to add to our Rooster-only flock. Which breeds so you think have the sweetest Roos?
Thanks!
P.s. my super healthy Cornish Cross boys are soooo affectionate and awesome!
That's an interesting trio.Right now 3
Sebright-spunky, friendly, smart, good layer, broody a lot which might be put to use next yr
Spitzhauben-cute beyond belief, friendly, good layers
Leghorn (brown)-lovely, good layers, seldom broody.
I love tiny chickens too, especially the roosters and their squeaky crows. Ayam Cemanis freak me out, I like a red comb on my birds.1. OEGBs, cuz you can't help but love their tiny might.
2. Ayam Cemanis because, wow, those guys can actually freak me out sometimes.
3. D'uccles because I've simply had a ton of adventures with mine personally. They're fantastic little birds.
4. Japanese Long-Crowers....because they exist.
5. Olandsk Dwarf. Again, because they're tiny yet utterly magnificent.
I'm kinda biased, though.I love tiny chickens too, especially the roosters and their squeaky crows. Ayam Cemanis freak me out, I like a red comb on my birds.![]()
Maybe they are an acquired taste. I probably have close to 40 bantams too currently.I'm kinda biased, though.Let's see...forty bantams and counting?
Same for me, but I've learned to love my three Cems for their weirdness.
