Please tell me what this could be. Makes me so sad.

Here's some general info on controlling mosquitoes. http://insects.about.com/od/insectpests/a/mosquitocontrol.htm

They need like 2 Tbs of water to lay eggs, you have to be really diligent to keep them away.

Also I put dried or fresh mint in the hen house, and the mint that i have I am growing in the yard around the hen house. I would imagine that Neem oil sprayed in the hen house would help too. You can plant all types of mint, camphor and lavender to keep mosquitoes down, but mostly i notice my chickens eat them once they have hatched.

Thank you fairie. I have mint growing on the other side of the yard. I guess I need to move it now that I know it helps with mosquitos.

Thank you maddly. I have been fighting a lot of mosquitos around the pin at night.

Me too, so frustrating! We ended up vaccinating the rest of our flock so that none of the other birds would get sick, but the two sick birds don't seem too bad. They've lost a little bit of weight but otherwise seem pretty happy and healthy.

All the best with your bird, hope she recovers quickly!
