What Bedding Do You Use? ~ Member Poll And Compilation~

I use a mix of wood chips and wood shavings. Also in my sebright coop I have a pvc floor mat in the main part of their coop since they don’t like bedding there. I also use sand in the base of one of my coops since it is really wet.

I didn't know about this concept when I first started, but now that I know I aim for it intentionally.

What do you mean by compilation....the poll kinda does that itself?

Yep, everyone has a favourite- its probably a lot cheaper not to mind but us mad poultry people are like that about that kind of thing

I use pine shavings.
Just started with some straw also since for the winter, others recommended it.
I think I’ll just go back to all pine shavings after winter.

I use pine shaving in the coop and wood chips/ yard waist that the county collects and shreds it up and you can get it for free . I just pile it up in the center of the run and let the girls spread it out . they have a lot of fun doing it .

I use hemp bedding, nice and soft, no smell, and it wasn’t anywhere near as dusty as pine shavings. I used to cough when I had to go in the coop when I used pine shavings, and I figured the chickens weren’t happy either so I switched bedding and I will never go back.
