What breed and are they most likely hens

I have five chicks I am wondering if the three brown ones are New Hampshire red
Also wondering what the black chick might be

I am surprised at the number of school hatching projects I hear about on BYC!
I think yours are too young to tell what sex. In a couple of weeks, take better pics that are easier to discern the details, and I think we'll be able to give you a good idea.

Prefect I'm 15mile from lake Michigan west suburbs of Chicago so we get super cold and can have horrible winds during spring and summer tornadoes so I have been teaching the chicks how to rush into there cage just in case we have a tornado warning or storm this summer or Hawks fly by
I want to make sure these chickens live a happy life and I have everything they need covered

Yes it will be a fully inclosed dog kennel a 10x10x6 pure metal with wire bottom so nothing can dig into and so my toddlers can't get in by the chickens without me nor my dogs

Where did you get them? The Red and White ones maybe Red sex-links and the black one maybe a Black sex-link or an Australorp.

We got them from my daughter's school they did an Illinois farm hatching program
And my neighbor also did the same program and she ended up with White leghorns and brown mutts
We kept one white Leghorn from her
And the black chick is very heavy and the bottom of her feet are black

They will be four weeks soon also my two leftover white Leghorn seem to be roosters since they have huge Combs and are red already and still no tails but definitely will post when they are 6 weeks

One of my brown chicks neck feathers are super dark I thought she was hurt
