Also are red sex link chicken good with cold weather

My weather doesn't get very cold In the winter here (down into the 20s is about it lately), but what I've read they are good in all climates.

Prefect I'm 15mile from lake Michigan west suburbs of Chicago so we get super cold and can have horrible winds during spring and summer tornadoes so I have been teaching the chicks how to rush into there cage just in case we have a tornado warning or storm this summer or Hawks fly by
I want to make sure these chickens live a happy life and I have everything they need covered

Do you free range your chickens? Also is your run covered?

We will the coop in a metal dog kennel so they can come out during the day and be safe at night from raccoons red foxes and the red tail hawks and when we play outside with my kids I intend to have a baby gate area up for them to roam the yard especially since the red tail hawks come past my yard around same time everyday

I highly suggest having a covered run area, I've had bad experiences with hawks in my flock.

Yes it will be a fully inclosed dog kennel a 10x10x6 pure metal with wire bottom so nothing can dig into and so my toddlers can't get in by the chickens without me nor my dogs
