I got these two from rural king in May. They are about 14 weeks old. They were in the Americana pullet bin when I purchased them But I’ve been researching Americanas and these don’t look like them. I was thinking they are Easter eggers but not sure. Also are they both hens because I read that Easter eggers are hard to sex. Thanks for the info!!!

They are both pullets but idk what breed they are

Hi , hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

Starlight green egger or Easter egger pullets is also my assessment/guess.

EE *usually* have more slate colored legs.. and this looks *more* like SGE to me.

EE are not hard to sex. Bearding gene does inhibit wattle size but not color. Starting as early as 10 weeks but often around 12 and usually well by 16 is when the flowing is obvious on male specific pointy saddle feathers.. Females are rounded. Examples from google..

Sometimes pattern can make rounded feathers LOOK pointy. Placing your hand or a sheet of paper behind can make it easier to discern.

True Ameraucana.. isn't spelled like they do for feed store chicks.. which are meant to "represent the breed". They don't breed true or match the acceptable feather color/pattern for the Ameraucana standard of perfection.. and therefore are not show-able. Your research was fruitful and served you well, nice job! They have otherwise been fun additions to my flock.. admitting I like seeing the cheeks.

Hopefully the SGE will be just as much fun! :wee
