what breed and what gender are those ducks

I think you are right , i had feeling that the mellers is the male cause he is more aggressive than the other one,

the dead ones i think was because of bad conditions they were in , when i went to that farm it looked like it was really nice place designed as a park but i guess the owner died and all the birds there were in very bad shape .

originally i went there to buy couple of guinea fowls and ended up buying the guinea fowls , the two ducks, and few hens (cochins and others)
 
a shell duck can be in freshwater though, for these ducks youll need an aviary a coop could kill them look up water fowl aviaries and just build a minature version of the larger ones they need it to be happy since they are not domesticated they stress alot easier and need open spaces.
 
I agree they need space these ducks are non domesticated breeds, they need space they also don't look in good condition they look depressed and stressed, shelducks actually live in fresh and salt water they usually raise their young closer to fresh water or estuaries( salt and fresh water ecosystems)

well , yesterday i set the mellers free by mistake (maybe my subconscious wanted that) but the shellduck didn't fly and i actually tried to force her to fly but still no

well i set the shellduck free too , she was like (are you serious? ) then fly on her way (both went north in Europe direction i guess) hope they get there and not get hunted or eaten before
