Got these guys from TSC yesterday. Supposedly they are Prairie Bluebell Eggers but no one at the store could identify the different chicks, and they were all mixed in stock tanks. Off the top of my head the breeds they did have in store were BO's, Barred Rocks, Cornish meat birds, the Prairie Bluebell Eggers, and Leghorn's. I may be missing a breed or two. I tried my best choosing chicks, really hoping I chose correctly - I would love some blue eggs. 🤦‍♀️

The stripey ones are probably PBEs, and the dark ones could be, too, or maybe Australorps. They are definitely not meat birds, barred rocks, BOs, or Leghorns.
Its just so hard to find information on the PBE's, i'm guessing its due them being a "newer" hybrid. As long as I have two I will be happy, I am trying to base my flock on colored eggs. I just haven't had the best luck with TSC..... the batch of chicks before this was 7 BO's that were supposed to be pullets. At 3 weeks old, 4 out of 7 of them are all showing signs of being cockerel's :barnie

4 out of 7 is ridiculous for what were supposed to be sexed pullets, I agree. TSC can be really unreliable about breed and sex, but that is particularly bad. But I do think the stripey ones are PBEs as they have beards and muffs. I think one of the black ones does too. So hopefully you get 4 colored egg layers this time around.

:fl here's to hoping lol

I wanted to wait a little longer before deciding on sex for the BO's since I know it is still early.... but the 4 that I suspected all feathered out differently & slower, plus their combs are twice the size, pinker, and now wattles are starting to grow and are pink/red. Plus they are always play fighting while the rest of the chicks act uninterested....... so i'm pretty sure I am correct in my assumption this time :barnie

The combs and wattles are the main thing, so you've likely got it right. Young pullets often spar too, so I wouldn't go by that alone.
