Did OP say how old this chick is? Depending on age, I'd say cockerel if it wasn't for that chest. Can't even trust that anymore it seems lol.

I'll see if I can!! It was at some point last April-November-ish time frame I saw this bird. So weird too. You're honestly probably right about the color. I'm a huge fan of sexing by breast feathers but the darker mahogany red of the Cochins throws me off some!!

Looks pretty similar. I'd give it a couple of weeks and see how he/she develops.

Either the comb and wattles will continue to grow and he'll start to show black feathers on his breast, or she'll stay the pencilled pattern and the comb and wattles won't grow much more until she's close to laying age.

Oh that's the down poking through.

Gosh that looks like a cockerel... aside from the chest. Update us in 2 weeks. Sure is cute! I'm sure of that much.
