What breed are these (beautiful) girls?

I recently got these two girls, they are now about 9-10 weeks. The lady I bought them from thought they might be australorp/wyandotte cross but I've now read that cross tends to make sex linked offspring (black pullets and laced cockerels).

I'm not sure if that is true - any ideas what these girls might be?

I believe you have a lovely group of Black Sex Link pullets, also known as Black Stars.

They’re Black Sex Link pullets.

Thanks heaps. I hadn't really heard of black sex links before - I'm in Australia so not sure if that's what they are called here. They sure are beautiful birds, and look like good layers too. I'll be happy if that's what they are.

The only thing is I'm pretty sure dad must have been a gold wyandotte. I think that was the only rooster she had in that pen. Would that still make a black sex link?

Here might explain sex links better:

Look like Black Sexlinks to me. No Wyandotte in them, both are single combed. If they had a Wyandotte parent they would be rose combed.
Thanks for that. It's hard to get my head around the mysteries of chicken genetics ... as long as they turn out to be lovely girls and lay some lovely eggs I'll be happy. :thumbsup
