Hi. Can anyone tell me what type of chickens these are? We bought them from TSC and the card said Cornish Cross. Are these considered dark Cornish?

Looks like easter eggers, good thing since cornish cross are White and are the poster meat birds, they eat them selves to death within a few months.
Edit: I see some pink feet, you could have a few speckled sussex as well.

Yes, we were planning on them being meat chickens. We have had the white Cornish rock which grew a lot faster then what these are. These are almost 4 weeks old. But from what I read the dark does grow at a slower rate. I’m hoping they are meat birds because we have plenty of laying hens!!!

I thought they looked like Easter eggers when my husband first brought them home. (We have some some and they looked almost the same as chicks) but they seem to look different now they are a little older then what the eE looked liked. We thought we were buying meat chickens. We have plenty of laying hens!!

All ees look a bit different than each other. They also could be welsummers. Tsc gets the chicks from hoovers, which is a sub standard hatchery, known for wrong labels and paperwork. You can still butcher them, they won't be as meaty and they need to be older but you can. Best way to get meat birds is to order directly or through your tsc, unless someone in your area breeds them. :]

Do you have a hatchery you would recommend to purchase meat birds?
