Hi everyone! Quite new here and at raising quail chicks. When I purchased the eggs I was told they were japanese quails but they look very different to the last jap quail chicks I had.

They look like button quail chicks. Here’s one I found on google.

I'm pretty sure they are not button quail chicks.
What did the eggs look like? If they were off-white with irregular, large brown-ish spots and weighed around 10 grams, those chicks are pretty certainly coturnix chicks (aka japanese quail). You might be confused by their colors as they are not wild colored.

button eggs are really small and blueish. japs are green and heavily speckled with brown. like JaeG said, they are probably different colored japs.
