I wasn't with my mum when she bought my chickens as one week old chicks, she told me she had the choice between brown or black and she chose brown ( Next time, it'll be one of each, can't tell them apart anymore!) I don't know what breed they are, some say they might just be production,Rhode Island Reds, or Sex Links, I wanna know! Ahaha if anyone could help me that would be so great :)

Here they are about 12 weeks old and going through their juvenile molt.

Mum said something about them being something like "Isa" browns or something but I dunno she's most likely wrong..

Yes...she is actually right. ISA browns are the name for a red sex-link. They are a cross between a RIR hen and a Rhode Island White roo.

Actually, the ISA Brown is nowhere near that simple a cross. Additionally, the Rhode Island White is so incredibly rare, with less than 3000 known to be in existence. The RIW has a rose comb. Just because all these hatcheries claim to use a RIW in their sex link crosses, doesn't make it so. There is no truth squad going to arrest them. The white bird used is usually pictured and with a single comb no less. LOL

The ISA Brown is a 4 way cross of proprietary, long held flocks of genetically selected grand parent birds.
