What breed? Australorp?

Yours has more white, but I have a similar looking chick that is (supposed to be, at least) an Australorp... center chick:

The reason I'm pointing it out is because mine has some white feathers growing in on its wings. I always just assumed its because it was just hatchery quality or maybe the white will go away when it gets its adult plumage. It has the same leg shading and similar head markings as yours, just with more black. Who knows! lol

I'd say that does look like an australorp. I have three of them, and they all had white chests and white feathers in the wings. They are about 4 weeks old now, and they are losing a lot of the white, but you can still see some fuzz on their chests. I'll see if I can get a pic if you want. Here's my australorps at about 4 days old. You can see that one of them has similar face markings, and their entire underside was white.

Hatchery Australorp. The legs will get darker turning to slate all the way to the toes. The beak should have more black in it though. The white feathers will fall out and the chick will turn black. A chicks will have about 3 juvenile molts and turn black. Just poor quality Hatchery Australorp and not an Anaconna IMO.

Thanks for the info and pic! :) I've never had Australorps before, so I wasn't totally certain the white on the wings was normal. One of my Australorps has an almost entirely white beak too, not sure if that's normal. Oh well, I wasn't expecting them to meet the breed standard when I bought from Ideal! Your little guys are adorable by the way.

Yeah, mine are hatchery too. I am actually not sure which one though because I bought them from someone after she ordered them. Right now mine are in the ugly stage! HA! Some feathers...some fluff. They look a little rough.
