What breed hens and how do I know if there ready to lay?

The white birds look to be EE/mixed breeds with Ameraucana type parentage. The dark bird may be the same or an "Olive Egger" type mix.

When do I k ow when they are ready to stay laying?

The EEs don't have much color so they still have a ways to go. You could be looking another 4-6 weeks. The brown ones are closer.

Put up another picture of the brown/white EE. The R one has a suspicious looking tail.
