What breed is Moony?

Moony is now 13 weeks old.
She hatched from a very beautiful dark marans egg.
However, I can’t pinpoint what colour marans she is? (Or if she even is one!)

She’s very dark in the face.
Shes very beautiful.

Nope. But in Aus we have both with and without feathered legs.

From my recent research into different Marans varieties most have feathered legs. There are two varieties that are grey, that I know of, Lavender and Blue Cooper.

I'm still learning about them, so wait for others to weigh in.

No that’s my bad! I should have said something.

Thanks! I always assumed blue marans had copper in them too. I guess just another variety? I’m not up to date with my marans colours. So it’s a learning curve!

A lot depends on the flock from which the egg came from. If it was of mixed breeds, then she is likely a Marans mix. If it came from a place where only pure breeds were kept together, then yes, I'd say blue Marans is the answer.

I never saw this reply! I’m so sorry..
she was sold to me as pure. However this is her today, so I think I may have been duped? (White has grown in around her comb)
