What breed is my dog?

Thank you guys!
The papers that I got with him did have him labeled as an Australian cattle dog, but for some reason my husband thinks he’s not.

It’s probably because we have a friend down the road that also has an Australian cattle dog, that she got from a breeder. Her dog is a bit more stocky looking. But I explained to my husband that her dog is also a female and ours is male so he’s a bit bigger, also she’s a blue and ours is a red.

He could also be very likely mixed with Border Collie which could account for a less stocky look! :)

We have 5 of the little heathens I mean darlings that just turned a year old.

Definitely red heeler with something else thrown into the mix.

He will be VERY energetic, strong willed, and SMART! Ours are also some of the most loving cuddly dogs we have ever encountered.

Congratulations!

I found a picture of one of our boys. This is Varn. He, his two brothers and two sisters were rescued by us from an Amish puppy mill. They were 12 weeks old, being fed off the ground and their food of choice was a dead goat and a dead rabbit.

We got them for 5$ apiece and one look at them and we knew we had to take them all. They were 100% wild little heathens. No manners, no socialization no nuthin'. They are now perfect dogs in every way with the exception that they think cats are toys. Due to injuries to our cats, we keep them strictly separated. I blame them being fed whole rabbits and raw goat meat for their behavior.

I can assure you that once bonded, as far as your dog is concerned, the sun will rise and set over your head. These aren't our first ACDs we lost our Dingo a year ago last Christmas to Degenerative Neruopathy.

Here is Varna AKA: Varn at about 6 months of age.

Hello!
So we recently took in another dog, he’s only 9 months old. He currently weighs 40lb and shouldn’t get any bigger. He is a reddish color and white with green eyes.

Now I think I know what he is already but my husband disagrees with me. So I want some other opinions to help settle it.

I would say red heeler mix from the looks of the spots! We had a blue heeler mix and the coloring was very similar just black/brown instead of red!

Yes he is very energetic! We go on 6 mile bike rides everyday with him!

He really is just the happiest dog ever and loves EVERYTHING! He gets so excited when he sees another dog or person! And he thinks he’s a lapdog despite his size.

All of ours thinks they are lap dogs. The biggest, Sidney will crawl in my lap every chance she gets and her brother Ben will come up to you, stand on his hind legs, spin around and lean against you begging to be picked up. Once picked up, he lays cradled in your arm like a baby and smiles at you.

One of the things I find amazing about cattle dogs is that they smile, BIG sappy grins that just let you know how happy they are.

Our Dingo used to run alongside my husband's dirt bike when we were out trail riding. He'd run until his tongue was down to his knees then disappear and after about 15 minutes reappear soaking wet. We finally figured out that when he got too hot, he would go to the nearest pond, wade in to his belly, lay down, get a drink and once cooled off was good to go again.
