What breed is my ROO?

The bird isn't a pure duckwing nor is he pure "Silver" he looks to be a cross of Silver and Gold.
Mealy can vary from breeding to breeding.

Made up?
Mealy Grey is by far a made up "Color" and can be found in a number of breeds both in and outside of the U.S.

This little guy has had me scratching my head for like 15 minutes now. Every breed that he resembles should have white earlobes. He has red ones.

I agree that he most looks like a Mealy Gray OEG (and yes that's a real color). Maybe really really bad hatchery quality OEG? But to lose the ear color completely is so weird.....

I vote a cross with OEG.

So in order for him to be a "silver leghorn he would have to have yellow legs and white ears? At what age do you see white ears?

Correct, all Leghorns should have white ears. Even hatchery quality ones. There is not color change in ear throughout their lives. As soon as the chick's ears are visible, they should be white.

That's why I'm so stumped on this little guy! He's got to be a cross of some sort.

he looks like the one we have that we believe is a Silver Leghorn, we got ours as a free mystery chick from McMurray, and have been looking through their book and site, and its the one I think ours is, but here's a photo from Friday, he's 8 weeks old:

hmmm...didn't even notice, til it was pointed out, wow, but other than that, they really do look very similar! My bad, maybe yours is a mix of some sort, or the OEG people are saying, that's what I was hoping mine was, my husband won't let me keep a leghorn
