She’s an American game cross.I received this little black hen. I tried to get a clear pic of her but she’s fast and don’t like to be touched. She also has spurs. I have no idea what she is. View attachment 2838903

Sumatras aren’t fibromelanistic. They’re gypsy faced.Nope. It is not fibro.
Then it is not gypsy faced.Sumatras aren’t fibromelanistic. They’re gypsy faced.
I would prefer to use a different term, but, as far as I know, there isn’t one. Then it is not gypsy faced.

This chicken has a red face and comb. Sumatras have black faces & combs. So this chicken is not a Sumatra (or at least, not a good one.)I would prefer to use a different term, but, as far as I know, there isn’t one.
That description matches fibromelanism as well, though, and I was trying to clarify to @TheOddOneOut that Sumatras don’t have fibromelanism. This chicken has a red face and comb. Sumatras have black faces & combs. So this chicken is not a Sumatra (or at least, not a good one.)
Nice and clear, no problematic terms, but it did take more words to say
Yes, Sumatras are Gypsy Faced. That description matches fibromelanism as well, though, and I was trying to clarify to @TheOddOneOut that Sumatras don’t have fibromelanism.
Yes, which is why it's good for telling why the chicken cannot be a Sumatra, while dodging the issue of what to call the black face on a Sumatra. That description matches fibromelanism as well, though, and I was trying to clarify to @TheOddOneOut that Sumatras don’t have fibromelanism.
