what breed is the best for a semi bantam newbie

LOVE my sebrights, but wouldn't suggest it for a first timer as they are flighty and RARELY go broody. I had japs for a while and loved them. They were easy keepers. Not sure on the others as I've never owned them.

Good luck, choosing your breed is sometimes the most fun

Well from the breed's you have picked I would say bantam Sumatra.I used to raise standard's.I have done the Jap's too and sebright.I hatched out only 2 sumatra in Dec and they are both hen's but I handled them daily also. They are doing really good and have been free ranging some with some OE's I hatched at same time.I still can pet them daily and havent really had any problem's with them.I just got some new sebright chicks last month or so from TSC and they are nutz lol.I had silvers and gold before but I guess I had a lot more time to mess with them as chicks back then.Hoping mine will at least be tame.I had good luck with my Standard Sumatra's as well as big as the roo's got never had to make them go to coop and they were not agrtessive at all.I got an OE roo out now baaaaa he be ok though its not cold got tired of chasing him lol. Hope you find a nice bird you like.

I would go with the Japanese Bantams.

They lay pretty good are very sweet they don't eat very much bu they can fly really high. That doesn't matter here because they free range.
